Extensions, Alterations and External Re-Cladding to a Private Home
Project: Extensions and Alterations to Cormuir
Client: Mr and Mrs Hoyle
Site Manager: Steve Lyon
Completion: May 2016
This project was extensions and alterations to an existing private dwelling house. Cormuir was constructed in the late 1960s and had not been materially changed since then. The property was purchased by Mr and Mrs Hoyle in 2015 and they engaged T.G. Sowerby Developments to remodel the property to meet their requirements. This included a two-storey extension to the property, timber-framed and clad and roofed in standing seam zinc sheeting, cladding the existing brickwork in a combination of Cement Board cladding and Siberian Larch, and substantial internal remodelling.
The timber-frame panels were all manufactured in-situ to ensure they met the requirements, before being crane-lifted into position.
The property was also fitted with Solar Heating and a Heat Recovery System to reduce the heating bills for the property.
The project is a contender for the 2017 East Midlands LABC Building Excellence Awards in June 2017.
